— What We Do
Our Current Programs
Audio –Visual Program
Since 1971, the Conroe Service League has been providing state-mandated screenings to thousands of preschool children in Montgomery County. These screenings are vital for supporting children’s education, as around 80% of early learning is verbal. If a child has trouble hearing, it can slow their learning process. Now partnered with the Conroe Noon Lions Club, CSL offers this service to about 12–14 preschools in the community each fall.

Outreach Program
The Conroe Service League proudly supports a wide range of worthy nonprofit and community organizations throughout Montgomery County through ongoing service and monetary contributions. Each year, CSL provides financial assistance and volunteer support to organizations dedicated to education, family stability, health, veterans, and community welfare.
See below for a current listing of organizations being assisted.
We are here to serve. It is our mission.
Baby Bundles
Conroe Service League provides gently used clothing, blankets, and other essential items to new families at local hospitals, helping support them as they bring home their new bundle of joy. This biannual project is made possible through generous donations received from the Bargain Box.

Young Texas Artists
Young Texas Artists (YTA) is a unique nonprofit organization dedicated to presenting music competitions and events, career development programs, and cultural enrichment outreach. Since 1983, YTA has played a vital role in educating, inspiring, and building audiences for classical music and the fine arts across Texas. Our organization is proud to support YTA’s longstanding commitment to artistic excellence.
Priceless Gowns
The Conroe Service League proudly partners with First Baptist Church Conroe each year to support this meaningful event. In addition to providing volunteer support, the League contributes monetary donations to help make the program possible. Together, we ensure that high school senior girls receive a free prom dress and accessories, helping each young woman feel like a princess on her prom night.
Just Between Friends
Conroe Service League partners with the Just Between Friends organization to coordinate the receipt and distribution of thrift store clothing donations. Through this partnership, CSL receives donated clothing that is made available to the community at deeply discounted prices. Proceeds from these sales are reinvested into Montgomery County to support children and families in need, with a strong focus on primary education initiatives.

Scholarships
The Conroe Service League Scholarship Program was established in 1961 with the awarding of a four-year scholarship in the amount of $300. Over time, the program expanded to reflect the League’s growing commitment to education. In 1970, the League introduced one-year Fine Arts Scholarships, further broadening opportunities for local students.
In 1986, following the passing of longtime CSL sponsor Lady Hooper Schaefer, the League honored her legacy by naming the scholarship the Lady Hooper Schaefer Fine Arts Scholarship, a title it proudly carries today.
Each year, the Conroe Service League raises funds through their annual fundraiser to award multiple scholarships to Montgomery County area high school seniors, helping offset the cost of college and supporting students as they pursue their educational goals. To date, CSL has awarded more than a quarter of million dollars to hundreds of deserving students.
The impact of this program comes full circle, as some former scholarship recipients have returned as League members—continuing a tradition of service and giving back to the community that once supported them.
We had a remarkable pool of applicants auditioning for our scholarship committee, and while the decision was extremely challenging, we are pleased to announce the outstanding students who have been awarded scholarships. To honor them and their families, a small reception and ice cream social was hosted by Conroe Service League. The future looks incredibly promising for these graduating seniors.
Congratulations to them all!
Whatever the need may be, Conroe Service League is here to serve. It’s our mission.
